DicomObjects
DICOM capability is now expected in almost every aspect of medical imaging equipment, including not only primary imaging equipment and PACS, but also in related management applications such as RIS. Unfortunately, however, DICOM is a complicated protocol, and few companies have the time, resources and expertise to developer their own DICOM implementation from scratch. Whilst freeware solutions do exist, they do not have the backup and support required for commercial development.
The Solution
DicomObjects, however, changes all that, allowing rapid and flexible application development using a wide variety of tools, such as Visual Basic, Delphi, Access, or even VBScript within a web page.
The Result
Developers will be able to produce programs quickly, reliably and cheaply, without having to write new DICOM code for each. The simplicity and ease of use of DicomObjects will enable development of novel applications which might otherwise have been to "risky" had a large investment of programming time been necessary. In addition, it should be easy to tailor the applications produced to an individual user's needs.
How?
DicomObjects is a toolkit/SDK (available as an ActiveX component or .NET assembly) which provides extensive DICOM functionality, yet presents that functionality to client applications through deceptively simple documented interfaces, freeing the developer to concentrate on application functionality, rather than on the mechanics of DICOM.
Application Suggestions
Virtually any type of application concerned with medical imaging can easily be written using DicomObjects, but here are some suggestions:
- Viewing applications
- Teleradiology
- Secondary capture stations
- Image archiving and storage
- Web-based image retrieval
- Quality assurance
- Ad-hoc customised interfaces
- Image import and export filters
- "On-the-fly" data manipulation and correction Intelligent Image routing
Full descriptions of the system's functionality, availability, and Licensing Terms are available on the Licensing page.
A fully functional trial version of DicomObjects is available for download.
